My brother and sister-in-law bought me 3 x 1.5 hour beginners pottery sessions with https://trevordyerceramics.co.uk for Christmas.

The last time I did any thing with clay was when I was at secondary school where we had pottery as a subject. The only thing I remember making here, is moulding clay into a pot with my hands.  Then as part of my BTech National Diploma in Fashion & Design, we had an art module and within this module, we were set a task to slab build a jug (with the view that slab building has relevance with pattern cutting for garments).  I have still got the jug I made.

I enjoy watching The Great Pottery Throw Down. Seeing how the potters use a myriad of techniques to bring their design to life.  The exciting part of pottery for me is the glazing, where the alchemy of minerals and firing methods are used to create wonderful colours, textures and effects.

So it was a  great delight to receive my Christmas present of pottery sessions.  Here I got the chance to have a go at throwing clay on a potters wheel.  With help from Trevor, (he had to intervene on several occasions to avert disaster) I made some mugs and bowls.
