I was given a Winsor & Newton watercolour set as a child and found that I had a natural affinity with drawing and painting. I wanted to pursue a career in art & design and opted to enrol on a BTEC National Diploma Course in Fashion & Design.  I gained my qualification, but felt that the fashion industry wasn’t for me, combined with a lack of encouragement, support and information to continue with a career in design and art, I ended up in a corporate job doing something completely different (Finance & Accounting).

In recent years, visiting art galleries when on holidays, seeing the work of local artists, my desire to create art started to stir again.  Not only did I appreciate other people’s art work, I wanted to create myself, so I enrolled on a 4-day short course at the Newlyn School of Art.

Since then, I have participated on, in person and online art courses and I have seen my art work improve tremendously over the last few years, gaining complements and people wishing to purchase work. This has encouraged me to see how much further I can go with my art and if I can, in the future, have a career as a professional artist

I am still in the process of learning and exploring different art materials, surfaces, mediums, styles and techniques that other artists have adopted to discover my own artistic voice.  This is why I call myself a mixed media artist, as I like to try different mediums in my work, from watercolours, acrylic inks, oils and collage, choosing what suits best the landscape I am trying to capture
