I was lucky to be in Cornwall at the same time as the Cornwall Open Studios was taking place.  Several brochures about the Open Studios were left in the cottage that I was staying in and I spent some time looking though the brochure, deciding which artists based in West Cornwall (where I was staying), I would like to visit. There was a quite a lot and I wouldn’t have time to visit them all, therefore my decision on who to visit was based on if I am aware of the artist from seeing their work in galleries, if I have participated on a course with the artist and if I liked the look of the piece of artwork that the artist chose to advertise themselves in the Open Studios Brochure.

If you are an inspiring artist like me, visiting other artists in their studios, talking to them about their techniques, their journey of how they became an artist, their inspiration and what drew them to Cornwall if they were not originally from this region, is a useful way of gathering information about new art techniques and what it is to be an artist.

I am looking forward to browsing through the Cambridgeshire Open Studios brochure (where I am based)  and deciding who I would like to visit in July 2025.
